Winner of the New York Radio Festivals Award 2025 for his Radio 4 play When Alan met Ray, starring Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse, Ian returns to his home town with his sell out Edinburgh Fringe comedy play about growing up in Wolverhampton in the 1970s.
He looks back at his deluded teenage years. Being a trainee butcher at the Co-op in Low Hill is only a temporary set back before the world hears of his artistic talents. He’s convinced he can paint like Jackson Pollock, write profound poetry and get a hit record in the charts.
This is a world of awkward romantic relationships, The Sex Pistols, Crossroads and Angel Delight. Described by Black Country Comedian and actor George Fouracres as ‘ .. Like being hit over the head with a frying pan of nostalgic loveliness..’
An honest and clear-eyed view of his younger self. ‘Yes,’ he freely admits, ‘I really was that stupid’
