Beautiful music for Lent

More Information (WCR FM is not responsible for external websites)

Cantoras Chamber Choir presents a programme of beautiful music for Lent, depicting the sorrow of Mary at the crucifixion of her son.

The Stabat Mater setting by Norwegian composer Kim Andre Arnesen will be performed alongside Dan Forrest's 'And Can It Be?' based on the timeless text by Charles Wesley.

The concerts will also feature Sarah Quartel's 'Sanctum', inspired by the landscape of the West Coast of Canada. Each of the four movements depicts an aspect of Vancouver Island, exlporing landscape as a place of healing and sanctuary.

We will be performing these wonderful works on Friday 13th March 2026 in St Paul's Church in the Jewellery Quarter, and on Saturday 21st March 2026 in St Peter's Collegiate Church in Wolverhampton lead by our conductor Mariana Rosas.

The performances are expected to last around an hour and fifteen minutes with no interval.
