A day's workshop once a month

More Information (WCR FM is not responsible for external websites)

Do you want to be part of a team designing a tourist attraction based on the battle of Wodensfield 910 A.D. with the Vikings? A day's workshop once a month : mornings consist of a history lesson with discussion, and afternoons creating.

Crafts are basic skills taught for non art experienced people ; scratch art, wire bending, making reliefs on clay to cover with various coloured foils, embroidery and cutting and sticking shapes out of metallic card and strings. All materials are provided, visual information on anglo Saxon and Scandinavian design, a box to take your crafts home to work on and all workshops are free. Lunch isn’t provided but you can bring a packed lunch and eat in the craft room, or use the lovely cafe in the art gallery.

Continuing to finish the pieces of work started by Keith Prosser and Rachel Arnold’s February workshop. In the afternoon we will discuss what the rest of the summer workshops will be and Keith will come back to the last workshop on 13th September to overview your designs which he will make into repousse blocks for the next stage of the project.

7th June, 12th July, 13th September at the Art Gallery on Saturdays. Tuesday 5th August is the Anniversary of The Battle and we will decide together what we will do on that day.

At the end of the year your models and ideas will be displayed for other funders and crafters to turn your ideas into a prototype model of what the attraction will look like. If anyone wants to carry on in the decision making process they are welcome. The display will be at the main art gallery where the workshops have taken place. Creative Black Country are funding this stage of research and development with the aim of building communities , sharing knowledge and enjoying each others company. Birmingham Open Media are involved in making a computer game of the Battle.

Organiser and art workshop coach.
