Feature your business on WCR FM
Wolverhampton’s WCR FM is the main way in which you can put your business before those who live and work in the city. The age of our core audience is 25-55, and we also have specialist programmes for young people and older listeners. WCR FM broadcasts on 101.8FM, DAB, www.wcrfm.com and via smart speakers.
The question everyone asks us is…. How many listeners do you have?
It’s not an exact science, but our transmission area on the FM Service reaches 670,000 (of which just over 380,000 have access to our DAB service). That will increase in the next six months as we join other DAB networks to cover the whole of Black Country.
We are also played out in the Mander Centre, which has an average of 22,500 visitors per day.
According to RAJAR (the national radio survey), 6% of listeners are in the ‘other’ category, which includes us. We would be confident that is mainly WCR FM in Wolverhampton. That is why we feature on the City’s matrixes. Two thirds of that ‘6%’ figure would mean about 27,000 listeners across our transmission area.
Added to the Mander Centre footfall, our listenership is just under 50,000. There is always some duplication, but people also listen online via Smart Speakers, at work and in shops.
Value for Money
Radio advertising (digital and analogue), research released via Radio Today in September indicates that broadcast and digital radio delivers better return on investment than the all-media average (https://radiotoday.co.uk/2025/09/new-study-shows-audio-delivers-higher-profit-roi-for-advertisers/):
"Digital audio delivers a full-term profit return of £5.20 for every pound spent, while broadcast radio delivers £5. The all-media average sits lower at £4.11. In the short term, digital audio generates £2.70 and broadcast radio £2.30 per pound spent, both above the average of £1.87... Based on the analysis, Radiocentre is recommending advertisers consider allocating 20% of their overall media spend to audio".
